At Modus, transportation is about access. But it's also about responsibility.
Every day, we transport riders of all ages across Tulsa. That includes children traveling with parents and caregivers as they access healthcare, housing services, education, and other essential programs through our nonprofit partners.
Last week, members of the Modus leadership team, Executive Director,Heather Smith and Director of Operations, Justice Jones, completed the National Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) Certification Course hosted by Safe Kids Tulsa Area and the Jenks Fire Department.
This nationally recognized certification is designed to ensure professionals understand how to properly protect children in vehicles. Participants spend more than 30 hours learning crash dynamics, vehicle safety systems, child passenger restraint requirements, and hands-on car seat installation techniques.
Why was this training important to Modus?
Because not every family has the same experience with child passenger safety.
Many of the families served by our nonprofit partners come from different cultural backgrounds, countries, and life experiences. Some may have never owned a vehicle. Others may not be familiar with Oklahoma's child passenger safety laws or the proper use of car seats and booster seats.
What may seem like common knowledge to one family may be entirely new to another.
Our job is not to judge. Our job is to help.
This training gives our team the knowledge to ensure children are riding safely and that families receive accurate guidance when questions arise. It also helps us support the nonprofit partners who trust us to transport their clients with care.
For a parent, nothing matters more than knowing their child is safe.
For Modus, that means making sure every rider, no matter their age, has access to transportation that prioritizes safety, dignity, and care.
We're grateful to Safe Kids Tulsa Area, Safe Kids Worldwide, and the Jenks Fire Department for providing this training and helping create a safer community for families across Tulsa.
Because every ride matters and every child deserves a safe one.
