Modus Doubles Fleet Size

We tend to talk about outcomes. Workforce development, education, and healthcare access are the things that get funded, measured, and reported. They are visible, and they matter. But there is a constraint underneath all of it that rarely gets named, and that is transportation.

If someone cannot reliably get to a program, the program does not work. If they cannot make it to a shift, the job does not hold. If they miss care, health outcomes decline. This is not a theoretical issue. It is operational, and it shows up every day in Tulsa.

We have strong systems in place. Nonprofits are doing meaningful work. Employers are hiring. Training programs are producing talent. And still, access breaks down. Not because the services are not there, but because people cannot get to them consistently.

When transportation works, people stay engaged. They complete programs, keep jobs, and move forward. When it does not, progress stalls quickly, and often quietly.

“You can get anywhere in Tulsa in about 20 minutes,” Modus Executive Director, Smith said. “But that does take your own personal vehicle to be able to do that.”

At Modus, we focus on that constraint. We partner with nonprofit organizations to ensure the people they serve can reliably reach the services already available to them. Since 2018, we have provided nearly 50,000 rides with a fleet of three vehicles. That number matters, but what matters more is what sits behind it: attendance, retention, and follow-through.

We recently doubled our fleet. This increases capacity, strengthens reliability, and meets the level of demand we are already seeing. It means fewer missed appointments, fewer lost opportunities, and more consistency for people who are already doing the work to move forward. Click here to see the full story from Fox23!
